Welcome to Social Work in Black and White. We are Takia M. and Abbey D.; two social workers who met in grad school, became colleagues, friends, disruptors, innovators, sisters, and now, podcast co-hosts! Our journey has been fruitful, challenging, supportive, tearful, and beautiful. It is our goal to encourage other women through modeling what it looks like, sounds like, behaves like, and feels like, to have anti-oppressive relationships between a white woman and Black Womxn. Here’s a FUN FACT: it starts with white women understanding their own racial identity development (RID), and unlearning the ways they contribute to being racist. FULL STOP.

Are you still with us? If so, let’s take a deep breath, and continue…

Pause. For those of you interested in learning more, or those of you who may even be skeptical about this as a reality, we invite you along on our Social Work in Black and White PODCAST to hear more about our path! Tune in by clicking on the FEATURED tab, and buckle up, because we shoot straight.
